If a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, Gathering of Eagles and Eagles Up have taken a baby step toward reunification that represents a giant leap in support of American Troops. Effective immediately, both of our fine pro-troop organizations have agreed to enter into a “Partnership for the Troops.” In forming this partnership we will begin this journey together in a new spirit of cooperation and trust. So, how will this impact our organizations? For now, each organization will continue to operate under their existing banner while the boards and staff of both groups examine the best options to be taken. For instance, should we become a single entity, or are we better served maintaining two organizations, one as a 501(c)4 (GoE) and the other as a 5001(c)3? Should one group focus on countering the Code Pink, ANSWER and other anti-American groups while the other focuses on charitable and pro-troop activities? Will there be a cross over and intermingling? Sure! Will there be some confusion? More than likely! Do we have all of the answers now? Absolutely not! What we do have is a new trust and working relationship between the leadership teams of both organization. We have the enthusiasm and the desire to make a commitment to work together for the benefit of our troops. We will adopt the attitude that squabbling between members is just that; between members. It will not be between the organizations. The staffs of both organizations believe this is a move that will be greeted with broad support from all Eagles. This is an opportunity to strengthen the Eagle movement and to send notice that we are ready to take back our streets while continuing to provide the most active support possible for our troops. All Eagles at this time are invited to register and engage at each organization’s sites. Now is the time for us to reacquaint ourselves with old friends and allies or to make a few new ones.
